Description
Meet Command Sgt Major Ellen Rhianna Flagstaff of the battle ship Century V.
Originally intended for the contest (of which I missed the deadline )
*****
I grew up on all the black and white sci-fi and horror flicks and fell in love. Today's movies (though I still love them) still don't quite add up to the originals. When faced with creating a character for the contest my memory just kept returning to the classics (Lost In Space, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers, etc) I just had to create something along those lines. As I was working at the bookstore thinking of this I came across a book of Lempicka's works and the Art Deco period just clicked as a wonderful combination to my previous idea.
As homage to Lempicka I used her St. Moritz as a pose and also came across a hubble photo of the Eagle Nebula - both of which I altered to come up with this.
Considering I just finished this 5 minutes ago it is still wet. Once dry I will rephotograph and resubmit.
Enjoy!
*pst* forgot to add...
Oils on primed Bristol
About 5 hours to finish
Roughly 5 x 10 inches
EDIT 5.28.2007: updated image. this one is closer to the original in color and there is no shine since it's not still wet like previously.

Been meaning to comment on this for some time. I love it. The composition and the texture are just wonderful. The colour is out of this world. Great work.
